The planet itself gains anthropomorphic properties with the Cetra being able to enter in communion with it in a ritual known as "talking to the planet," and in Cosmo Canyon the party can listen to the "cry of the planet" in suffering under exploitation from Mako harvest.

The games within the collection have expanded on the story of Final Fantasy VII both before and after the original game, but have been met with mixed reactions for a number of reasons, including various retcons and liberties taken with the original storyline and characters. Remake[]

Apathetic to the cause, Cloud initially fights for personal gain, and final fantasy 7 remake for the promise he made to childhood friend Tifa Lockhart.
